Planning perspective

What to consider before reaching out

A strong first conversation is about fit, not just availability. Share your date, approximate guest count, location, and the feeling you want the day to have. Ask what is included, what typically changes the final quote, and what decisions need to be made earliest.

For a venue partner, confirm how communication works, who will be present on the day, and how the team handles changes. Pricing was not included in the supplied research, so request a current, itemized proposal directly from the business.

Why this business stood out

We recently enjoyed a 4 day multigenerational family reunion at The Wilburton Inn. We were 50 in number and stayed in The Mansion, Strawberry Hill and The Reunion House. The accommodations were very comfortable and the Mansion provided wonderful spaces for gathering, visiting, yoga classes DandD games, karaoke and square dancing. We appreciated the availability of catered meals and opted for breakfast every day and 2 dinners for the group. The Innkeeper family were always very responsive and welcoming. Would highly recommend this lovely facility in a beautiful spot with gracious hosts!

Wilburton Inn was love at first sight. From the moment we arrived, we knew it was special. We were looking for a venue that we could have privately for an entire weekend so we could create lasting memories with our family and friends. We had almost settled on a more traditional “wedding factory” venue, but decided to visit Wilburton on a whim—and we’re so grateful we did. The drive in is stunning, and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The rooms and buildings have that quintessential New England bed-and-breakfast charm, enhanced by historical touches that make you feel connected to a bygone era. Most importantly, the staff—and especially Meesha—were complete rockstars. They helpe...

We had a family reunion trip with a range of 5 to 80 years old! Melissa’s place was perfect! All families had their own bedroom and bathroom, and enough seats for all at meal time! The kitchen was HUGE and easily fit the 5-6 people in it to prepare meals! The outside was great too, huge firepit area for nightly hang outs and the yard had ample space for our “cousins competition” of yard games and races! Will definitely be back! Melissa was very responsive and absolute pleasure to deal with!!

Rented out the full Battenkill Valley Mansion for a graduate school retreat. I was so impressed by how responsive the Wilburton team was to all inquiries, which made the entire process so stress free! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, and everyone enjoyed hanging around the firepit and in the living room. The location is also so convenient to town which is lovely. I would recommend to any big group!
