On the advice from Samantha Brown (name drop), we decided to take a week off from our “busy” retired lives and visit the Wentworth Inn in Newcastle, New Hampshire. And are we glad we did. Although a change in ownership over the years was a surprise, the new owners kept up the charm and elegance I would expect from a resort-style establishment. We had a lovely one night stay at Wentworth. Room was well appointed and comfortable, dinner was delicious, and the pool and hot tub were perfect temperatures. I greatly appreciated the free coffee/cappuccino machine. Shout out to our server at dinner, Ethan. He was fantastic - engaging, knowledgeable, and efficient. One of the best wait staff I have had anywhere! It was a wonderful mid-winter get away, and we would love to return.

The resort is in a beautiful location and has many of the amenities needed for a great family vacation. Unfortunately, it was the attention to the small details and customer service that fell short of expectations. When I arrived, the refrigerator in my room was dirty. It contained flies and old, slimy spilled food. I reported the issue to the front desk and was told the refrigerator would be replaced. Instead, it appeared they simply removed the flies while leaving the old food residue in the back, making it clear that the refrigerator had not actually been replaced. Had another lovely stay. It's such a nice property. Diane Drescher at the desk was especially helpful, but truly they all were. Mina was very nice in the SALT restaurant where we had two good meals. Again, all of their staff were outstanding. The rooms are classy and up to date. The hotel feels like it has been refreshed. To be fair, the outdoor spa hot tub needs some work, but that's about all there is to complain about.

Love Wentworth by the Sea. Been visiting for 19 years. (Tried the Cliff House for two years but ended up returning to the Wentworth this year.) It did not disappoint! SALT service and menu were as AMAZING as I remember. Special thanks to Debra, Kris and Sawyer for outstanding evening service. I will be dreaming about my lobster flat bread. The mornings, having blueberry muffins on the back porch for breakfast, was also a highlight. Thank you Sarah and LilyAnn. We stayed in the Admirals suite. It is nicely appointed and well maintained.
