Planning perspective
What to consider before reaching out
A strong first conversation is about fit, not just availability. Share your date, approximate guest count, location, and the feeling you want the day to have. Ask what is included, what typically changes the final quote, and what decisions need to be made earliest.
For a venue partner, confirm how communication works, who will be present on the day, and how the team handles changes. Pricing was not included in the supplied research, so request a current, itemized proposal directly from the business.

This gem of a boutique hotel is Vermont charm at its finest! Conveniently located, its atmosphere is one of subtle elegance, rather than an in-your-face trendiness or a standardized, impersonal corporate look. The rooms are showpieces; the worst room here (not that there is even a "worst" room) is better than the best room anywhere else, with comfortable mattresses and many thoughtful touches throughout. (And there is a pleasant quirkiness in placing lovely antique furnishings, having just a kiss of weathering, in an immaculate setting). The staff make you feel right at home, and are a wealth of knowledge about local goings-on. And Chef Sigal works magic that truly must be experienced to...

The Reluctant Panther is one of those rare places that turns first-time visitors into lifelong guests. My family and I have stayed here many times over the years, and it has become our home away from home whenever we're in Vermont. After hosting our rehearsal dinner and welcome party here in May 2026, I can say with complete confidence that The Reluctant Panther is every bit as exceptional for special events as it is for overnight stays. A special thank you to Morgan Ams, who helped us plan and execute our rehearsal dinner and welcome party. From the very beginning, Morgan was thoughtful, responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in making our event perfect. She made the entire plannin...

Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Party Flawless Wedding Rehearsal & Welcome Party at The Reluctant Panther A huge 5-star review for The Reluctant Panther! If you are looking for a venue in Manchester that feels sophisticated yet welcoming, look no further. We hosted our son’s rehearsal dinner and subsequent welcome party (90 people) here, and it was the perfect choice. The location was ideal—our guests were able to walk from the Equinox in less than five minutes. The dinner menu was exceptional, featuring truly top-tier culinary work that impressed even our most discerning "foodie" guests. From the short ribs and maple pork chops to the seasonal pasta and trout, the selections were endless and...

Simply shocking. Avoid at all costs. My stay at this establishment was unexpectedly poor from the very beginning. Especially seeing the price per room that is charged. We were left at the front desk for over 15 minutes. Before being shown to our room by Richard. We ordered breakfast to the room which was a change from our previous stay where they had a full buffet breakfast downstairs. The selection of items for breakfast was incredibly small and comprised of a small picnic basket. They proceeded to get the order wrong which meant we were unable to have breakfast and had to eat in the town of Manchester to compensate. On returning to the hotel post hike. We were informed that our room w...

We truly could not have imagined a more perfect wedding weekend, and so much of that is thanks to Morgan. From the very beginning of the planning process, she was absolutely incredible. Wedding planning can sometimes feel overwhelming—especially when well-meaning family members have lots of opinions—but Morgan always remained calm, poised, and completely professional. She consistently ran everything by Jake and me first, making sure our vision stayed at the center of every decision. Her steady, confident energy made us feel supported and at ease the entire time. The inn itself is a beautiful, boutique gem in Vermont. Having the property privately for the whole weekend was such a gift—most o...
