Planning perspective

What to consider before reaching out

A strong first conversation is about fit, not just availability. Share your date, approximate guest count, location, and the feeling you want the day to have. Ask what is included, what typically changes the final quote, and what decisions need to be made earliest.

For a venue partner, confirm how communication works, who will be present on the day, and how the team handles changes. Pricing was not included in the supplied research, so request a current, itemized proposal directly from the business.

Booking The Barn at Smugglers' Notch for our October wedding was the best decision we made! The minute we toured the venue we knew it was the perfect spot to celebrate with our family and friends. The venue itself is breathtaking! The bridal suite was the perfect place to get ready with my bridesmaids in the morning. The outdoor ceremony space is gorgeous, especially in the fall. The reception room and bar/dance floor were the perfect size for our guests. Jamie is absolutely incredible to work with. Her communication and organization made our day (and all the planning leading up it to) so easy. She worked with us to make sure our day was exactly what we envisioned. Jenn and Steve were equal...

Getting married at The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch was so special for us — we’ve been going to Smuggs our whole lives, and celebrating our wedding there felt like coming full circle. The views were stunning, with purple lupins blooming and Mount Mansfield as our backdrop, and the barn itself was absolutely gorgeous. Jamie was amazing from start to finish — she kept us on track, answered every question, and made the whole process feel easy. On the day of the wedding, she, Steve, and Jenn handled every detail so we could simply relax and soak in the moment. The entire day was seamless, beautifully decorated, and filled with joy. Our guests were in awe of how beautiful everything was. We can’t i...

The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch was truly a DREAM wedding venue! From the moment we first saw it, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. We celebrated our marriage (actually on our first anniversary) on 9/28/2024, and over the span of almost 2 years of planning, Jenn, Jamie and Steve were wonderful to work with. They accommodated us visiting several times after booking to see more details and ask questions. As we got closer to our wedding date, Jamie worked with us to develop our timeline full of so many details. They were so welcoming of us and our family, allowing my brother, a pastry chef & restaurant owner, to build the wedding cake on site the day of the wedding. Jenn was there ...

The perfect venue for the BEST DAY EVER! We are beyond thrilled that we chose the Barn at Smugglers' Notch for our wedding venue. From day 1, Steve, Jenn, and Jamie have been friendly, responsive, professional, and welcoming. The venue is gorgeous, both inside and out, and Mount Mansfield provides a breathtaking back drop. Once booking the venue, Jamie provides a helpful timeline, recommended vendors and more. We really felt that they took the stress out of wedding planning. We would recommend any one getting married in Vermont to chose the Barn at Smugglers' Notch as their wedding venue!

My husband and I had our wedding at The Barn last September and it was truly magical! The space, both inside and outside, is so beautiful. Jenn and Jamie were very resourceful and knowledgeable throughout the entire wedding planning process. They made sure every detail was planned and also coordinated with all of our vendors, which was extremely helpful. On the day of the wedding, they were on top of the timeline and ensured the day/night ran smoothly. They made sure I didn’t have to stress over any details on the wedding day, which as a bride is much appreciated. All of our guests commented on how much they loved the venue and enjoyed the wedding. We felt so well taken care of and cannot re...
