Planning perspective

What to consider before reaching out

A strong first conversation is about fit, not just availability. Share your date, approximate guest count, location, and the feeling you want the day to have. Ask what is included, what typically changes the final quote, and what decisions need to be made earliest.

For a hotel rooms partner, confirm how communication works, who will be present on the day, and how the team handles changes. Pricing was not included in the supplied research, so request a current, itemized proposal directly from the business.

I’ve been staying at this Hampton Inn on and off for more than 30 years, dating back to my days at Saint Michael’s College, so I’ve seen this property through a lot of different stages. To be completely honest, my stay last year was disappointing enough that I had pretty much written the hotel off. The room I had then was in rough shape and cleanliness was a major concern. This trip, however, was a much better experience. I was in town for a funeral and needed a place to stay, so I decided to give the hotel one more chance. Thankfully, the room was clean and comfortable, which was a significant improvement from my previous visit. That said, the property is showing its age. The furniture is...

Wonderful place to stay. Room was very clean and everything was in good working order. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was awesome -- I was a last minute check in after a quick online booking and the desk agent was tremendous and extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent -- well stocked and every type of breakfast option imaginable. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to the area.

The hotel sits on top of a hill, which is nice for the views but not so great if you don't get one of the limited parking spots out front. If those are full, be prepared for a bit of a hike from your car to the main entrance. Nothing too extreme, but you may find yourself wondering if you're checking into a hotel or starting a short nature trail. The back entrance is locked as well, so first-time guests will need to make their way to the front. Check-in was a little awkward. I mentioned that I booked through Expedia, but the concierge still asked for my Hilton Rewards number even though third-party bookings don't qualify for points. When I asked what the benefit would be, he just ignored th...

Large hotel right off of highway 89 and located outside of Burlington. Convenient for wanting to stay outside of Burlington. Large hotel with a little odd layout. Don't recommend getting a room on the main floor as the lobby is also the breakfast room and the weekend that I stayed the place was packed with kids and you get a lot of noise of banging of the waffle station and general noise. Otherwise, nice room. Loud bathroom door, sliding barn style that rolls and bangs. Friendly staff, check in was easy though parking lot is tight and I had to hunt a while for a place to park in the evening.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and up to date. But no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Have been noticing this more and more with hotels. Breakfast had a great selection and staff were on top of keeping things filled, even on the holiday weekend. Very impressed. Plenty of parking and there's a restaurant right next door.
