Planning perspective
What to consider before reaching out
A strong first conversation is about fit, not just availability. Share your date, approximate guest count, location, and the feeling you want the day to have. Ask what is included, what typically changes the final quote, and what decisions need to be made earliest.
For a venue partner, confirm how communication works, who will be present on the day, and how the team handles changes. Pricing was not included in the supplied research, so request a current, itemized proposal directly from the business.

Disappointing stay due to the amenities and room. We had been excited to swim and kayak, until we found out that the swimming area was no more than a patch of ground off the road, with no chairs or any place to relax. If you have kids, that means that they play in the mud while you sit on the ground and hope the flies don't get you too badly. There was a dock, but it was not functional (not level, not safe to jump or dive off, couldn't be used). Kayaking was nice, but that meant carting the paddles down the road, unlocking the kayaks, and same thing - no place to leave your things. I specifically called to ask about swimming and kayaking and it was described as their own private swimmin...

While motorcycle riding the North East Backcountry Discovery Route, I was stopped by serious rain. Fortunately, the stop was right at the Echo Lake Inn, a beautiful quaint country inn. Everyone welcomed me and went out of their way to take care of me. I enjoyed the front porch until I got chilled; then I moved inside to the very cozy living room. This kind of forced stop at a country inn has happened to me twice now. In the future, I'm going to plan such stays rather than let the weather decide for me.

My friend Nadia and I recently stayed at the Echo Lake Inn, and it was my first time ever experiencing a bed and breakfast. I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant at first about the closeness that sometimes comes with that type of stay, but the experience ended up being absolutely wonderful. (I'm a city girl) From the moment we checked in, the host was incredibly welcoming, informative, and made us feel right at home. Every member of the staff we interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests had a great experience. The small dining area and restaurant were fantastic. We ordered the steak and the duck, and both dishes were amazing, very fresh and pe...

We had dinner at the Echo Lake Inn Restaurant. It was great. The decor felt homey and comfortable. Service was pretty good. The food was good also, with huge portion and many interesting specials. While the duck terrine was so-so, the shrimp carbonara was outstanding and the portion was enormous. Duck breast was also very good and cooked exactly as requested. Steak was good also.

We just finished a fabulous meal. We've driven past many times and today we stopped in to make dinner reservations. The staff was extremely friendly. Service was fantastic. The Inn has a lovely old world Vermont vibe. Although we are staying in Killington, it was well worth the short drive.
