I stayed at the Cliff House for 3 luxurious days. I travel so much for work so I have a critical eye when I stay at a new hotel. The first thing you notice is the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. Everyone says hello and everyone knows what they are doing. We didn’t experience a single minute of bad service. Our room was in the Clifftop part of the hotel. It was spotless and the linens and furnishings absolutely top-notch. From turndown service to the leather cord organizers placed on our chargers - they thought of everything. Our 5th Visit… and Cliff House Still Gets It Right We’ve just returned from our fifth stay at Cliff House Maine, and once again it reminded us why we keep coming back. There are plenty of beautiful hotels, but very few that consistently deliver the combination of spectacular scenery, exceptional service, and a genuine feeling that they’re always trying to get even better. The property itself is absolutely breathtaking. The views, grounds, and facilities are stunning, making it look like the perfect getaway on the surface. However, the customer service when things go wrong is horrible. During my stay, I used the hotel's laundry service and spent the rest of my trip constantly chasing the staff to track down my missing clothes. Eventually, on the day of my checkout, I found my laundry just sitting at the front desk. My clothing was completely wet, damaged, and stinking—it had clearly been sitting there neglected for days. Sigh! That's the word I have for the Cliff House. Everything is simultaneously accessible, irreplaceable, exclusive, rugged, classic, stylishly modern, Maine-like, and generally flawless. I'm very lucky to stay in beautiful hotels and resorts, but the Cliff House is special. The setting, the facilities, the food, the service. Amazing. Oh, and schedule your indulgence if you can for the lobster grilled cheese at Nubb's Lobster Shack (on property). Totally worth every carb and calorie.
